Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit China in early February, where he will meet with the Chinese Foreign Minister to discuss bilateral issues and prepare for the Olympic summit. “On February 3, the Minister will visit the People’s Republic of China. During the talks in Beijing, the foreign ministers of the two countries will discuss topical issues on the bilateral agenda with an emphasis on the preparation of the Olympic summit of the leaders of Russia and China, coordination in the international arena, the main regional and global problems,” the diplomat said.
Earlier it became known that Russian President Vladimir Putin will also visit China, where he will be one of the main guests of the opening of the Olympic Games. He also plans to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. It is assumed that during the meeting in Beijing, Putin can tell the Chinese leader about the progress of negotiations on security guarantees with the United States and NATO.
