Russia sees the wounded pride of the US and France over the peace agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told about this in an interview with RT.

According to him, it cannot be said that the situation was resolved without the participation of the United States or France at all. “The position of the three co-chairs [of the OSCE Minsk Group] – Russia, the United States and France – (…) in favor of an immediate end to the bloodshed and the development of a mechanism to control the ceasefire still politically and psychologically influenced the situation,” the minister said. He believes that this played an important role in the fact that the agreement between the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia was reached and is working.

“But in general (…) in my contacts with American and French colleagues, as well as in the contacts of President [Emmanuel] Macron of France with President [Russian Vladimir] Putin on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, such a wounded pride, ”added Lavrov.

The Foreign Minister stressed that every minute of the ongoing fighting in Karabakh claimed the lives of people. In this situation, it is simply incorrect and unethical from the point of view of human morality to make claims that Moscow did not contact Washington and Paris and did not agree on the wording with them, “it is simply incorrect and unethical from the point of view of human morality,” Lavrov added.

Earlier, the United States and France wanted more clarity from Russia on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as on Turkey's role in ending the fighting.

On November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan adopted a joint statement suggesting an end to hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh from November 10. The parties to the conflict stop at their positions. Azerbaijan will gain control over the territories of Aghdam, Gazakh, Kelbajar and Lachin regions. Russian peacekeepers will enter the region: their units will be deployed along the line of contact and the Lachin corridor, which connects Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia. Also, a Russian-Turkish monitoring center is being created on Azerbaijani territory, which will monitor compliance with the ceasefire.
