Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented on relations between the European Union and Russia after what happened to Alexei Navalny. He told about this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In his opinion, Western countries are not interested in investigating the situation with the Russian, since Moscow is not being assisted. On the contrary, they just want to punish the Russian side, the minister believes, and not only for the situation with Navalny, but also for the crisis in Belarus.

Lavrov noted that now everything is subordinate to undermining relations between Russia and the European Union, and some members of the association understand this, but do nothing. “The principle of consensus, the so-called solidarity, continues to operate in them,” he stressed. The diplomat also pointed to the role of the “Russophobic aggressive minority” in Europe: in his opinion, such EU countries abuse such a consensus.

Alexei Navalny became ill on the morning of August 20 during a flight from Tomsk to Moscow, the plane urgently landed in Omsk. On August 22, the oppositionist was taken to a Berlin clinic.

The German authorities announced the poisoning of a Russian citizen with the poison of the Novichok group. Russian doctors claim that the tests did not show the presence of any poisons in Navalny's body. The head physician of the Omsk ambulance hospital No. 1, Alexander Murakhovsky, claimed that the patient had a carbohydrate balance disorder.
