Washington artificially created problems around the issuance of US visas to Russians, justifying this by problems with the number of personnel in the embassies. Although Moscow has repeatedly asked to resolve this issue, negotiations with the Americans are complicated by degradation in relations between the Russian Federation and the United States, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with MIA Rossiya Segodnya.
The minister recalled that since May 12 of this year, the Americans have suspended the issuance of non-diplomatic visas to Russians, leaving the right to consider applications related to vital emergencies. But recently, Washington, citing a shortage of personnel, has completely limited the issuance of nonimmigrant visas to the Russian Federation.
“Washington is doing this for a reason, but in order to“ bargain ”for itself unilateral concessions from Russia. After all, nothing prevents the US Embassy from filling the agreed quota (455 employees) and stabilizing the work of its consular service, ”Lavrov said.
