Sergey Lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov explained the refusal of the Bosnian authorities to meet with someone else's tip. He is quoted by Interfax.
According to the minister, the refusal incident is insignificant for Moscow's position, and the decision of the members of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zeljko Komšić and Shefik Dzhaferovic can hardly be considered independent.
“Most likely [they] express the interests not of their voters, but of external forces, which are not interested not only in the development of Bosnian, Russian-Serbian relations, but are generally not interested in the countries of the Western Balkans exercising their right to build mutually beneficial cooperation with all external partners, ”the minister stressed.
Earlier, Jaferovic said that at first he, together with Komsic, intended to attend a meeting with the Russian minister in order to discuss in detail his views on the policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, they later came to the conclusion that the refusal to meet would be a “stronger signal” for Russia.
On December 15, it became known that Dzhaferovich and Komshich refused to meet with Lavrov, which was supposed to take place on the morning of December 15. They explained their decision by disagreeing with a number of statements by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, including those regarding the Dayton Accords.
