Foreign Minister Lavrov: talks with the United States on security guarantees will start in early 2022

The first round of talks between Russia and the United States on security guarantees starts at the very beginning of 2022. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with RT TV channel, named the preliminary dates for the start of negotiations.
“Based on the results of the next contact, in fact, the organizational modalities of further work have been agreed. It was agreed that at the very beginning of next year, the first round should be bilateral contact between our and American negotiators, ”the minister said.
Lavrov noted that there is an agreement between Washington and Moscow to use three tracks of negotiations. He named the business reaction of his American colleagues.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister called the words of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg inadequate regarding Russian proposals on security guarantees in Europe. Stoltenberg stressed that a compromise between Russia and NATO on Ukraine's right to “choose its own path” and claim to join the alliance is impossible.
