The Russian side is completing the analysis of the American letter with proposals for security guarantees in Europe and is ready to send a response to the US on February 17th. At a joint press conference with Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced the deadline for sending a response to Washington. “We are finishing the analysis of the American letter. We hope that we will find out in the near future how the situation will develop further. At least today we will send a response to the American side. And, I already warned, we will make this letter public,” the diplomat said, noting that the answer would be published a few hours after being sent to Washington.
Earlier, Sergei Lavrov promised to give US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken a response from Moscow to US security proposals in Europe within a couple of days. The representative of the department stressed that the United States is waiting for the response of the Russian Federation.
