Sergey Lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov praised the development of relations between Russia and the United States under the elected American President Joe Biden. He stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Unfortunately, there is no reason to count on a quick rectification or even stabilization of the degrading relations with the United States. The anti-Russian hysteria that has swept America leaves little chance that we will soon see a return to normalcy, ”the diplomat admitted.
Lavrov called relations between Russia and the United States a hostage of intra-American strife. In his opinion, this is not conducive to constructive cooperation.
At the same time, the minister acknowledged that Russian-American relations still have potential, and Moscow will strive to develop them. He recalled that this also requires a response from Washington.
On December 15, it became known that Democratic candidate Joe Biden received the electoral votes necessary to win the presidential race. The current American leader, Donald Trump, has repeatedly refused to admit defeat. He believes that Biden lost the election “by a wide margin.”
