The organizers of the Lavanttal Rally, which is part of the Austrian championship, had to cancel their race for the second time in a row due to the coronavirus pandemic. “The uncertain future does not allow an orderly planning security”, it said on Friday in a broadcast of the rally planned for May 15th.
“We fought to host the Lavanttal Rally 2021 until the very last moment, went through all the scenarios that would have made it possible. We had a few concepts in the drawer, including a variant without spectators and in compliance with all safety precautions we worked out “, said MSC-Lavanttal chairman and organizer Horst Nadles bent. But all efforts were in vain, as you cannot get any commitments from the authorities.
It has not yet been decided whether the St. Veit Rally (May 28/29), which is scheduled 14 days later in the ÖM calendar, can take place.
