Launch of the world's first wooden satellite postponed
The first ever wooden space satellite will not fly into Earth orbit this year. The launch was postponed. This was announced by the flight organizer – a Finnish woodworking company.
“Much to our disappointment, we will not be able to serve the amateur radio community with the LoRa relay mission as we hoped and planned,” said the company's chief engineer.
The strat of the unusual aircraft was slated for the end of this year. But, according to the plans of the enterprise, this will happen in early 2022.
The launch postponement is associated with problems that arose with radio frequencies.
WISA Woodsat is built to serve missions. The satellite radio system operates in the frequency sector for radio amateurs. According to the idea of its creators, this is materials science, and space education, and the facilitation of radio amateur communication with satellites.
On the eve of China launched a manned spacecraft “Shenzhou-13” to its orbital station. The crew of the spacecraft included Zhai Zhigang, who in 2008 became the first Chinese to go into outer space, female astronaut Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu, for whom this flight will be the first in his career.
