Latvian justice minister says country will close airspace to Russia

Latvia has decided to close the republic's airspace to Russian airlines due to the situation in Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Justice of the country Janis Bordans, reports TASS.
On February 25, Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks made a proposal to close the airspace for Russia. The decision will be agreed with colleagues from the EU.
Earlier, the same decision was made by Estonia. Taavi Aas, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure of the Republic, said that Estonia supported Poland's initiative and banned all Russian airlines from using the country's airspace.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special operation in the Donbass. Earlier, on February 21, he signed decrees recognizing the DPR and LPR and agreements on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with the republics. On February 24, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the introduction of martial law in Ukraine and the severance of diplomatic relations with the Russian side.
