6,700 Russians applied for the repeat exam. /p>
About 3,600 Russian citizens have not passed the Latvian language exam and will receive a notification that they must leave Latvia within three months.
This was noted by a representative of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs ( USGM) Maira Rose, writes Delfi with reference to TV3 “Nekā personīga”.
“For those who did not pass the exam and did not apply, a letter will be sent next week stating that there will be approximately 3600 of them, who must leave Latvia. There is another category that believed that the Constitutional Court would help them. They were told: sit quietly. They lost, of course, they lose their residence permit. These people will be able to try to get a permit without concessions – like any other citizen of Russia, and not a long-time resident of Latvia,” she noted.
She added that of the 25 thousand Russian citizens subject to the new law, only 14 thousand have applied for permanent resident status in Latvia. 6,700 people applied for the repeat exam.
Recall that the State Duma of the Russian Federation proposes to close the borders with the EU. This is Russia’s response to the ban of European countries not to allow cars with Russian registration to pass through.
