Sprudes did not provide details of the drone project, saying that "we are now at the stage where we are approaching 20 partners".
Latvia has announced progress in creating a coalition of nearly 20 countries to arm the Ukrainian military with “thousands” of new drones.
This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to the words of the head of the Latvian defense department, Andris Spruds.
Sprudes stated that the main goal of the coalition is to do everything and deliver as many drones to Ukraine as possible.
According to the Minister of Defense, these weapons will help the Ukrainian military in a war in which drones have become an important element of combat operations.
The source says that Spruce's statement was the first evidence of large-scale plans for UAVs since the plan was presented at a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov in December 2023.
We note that UAVs took first place in the list of military equipment that the Ukrainian military leadership was looking for. Ukraine is also building a fleet of naval drones that it is deploying to target Russian ships in the Black Sea.
We would like to add that in Russia, the authorities of the Voronezh region stated that on the night of January 16, air defense systems “repelled an attack” of drones over the city.
