Advertising agency Nord DBB Riga has apologized to the Russian-speaking residents of Latvia for the incorrect translation of an advertising poster calling for vaccination. This is reported by Delfi with reference to the agency.

“We would like to sincerely apologize both to the Russian-speaking residents, who were hurt by the translation error in advertising materials, and to all participants in the vaccination process: doctors, nurses, other employees of medical institutions and everyone who cares about the smoothness of the vaccination process in Latvia. quickly, ”the company said in a statement. They also reported that the posters had already been corrected.

An advertisement with an incorrect translation was previously noticed by residents of Riga. The poster depicts the former football player of the national team of the republic, ex-president of the Latvian Football Federation (LFF) Kaspars Gorks, who says in Latvian: “I am getting vaccinated because I want to visit my grandparents.” However, in one of the buses, residents noticed that his phrase was translated into Russian as an offer “to see my great-grandfather and great-grandmother”.

The poster is part of a government advertising campaign called “Two Million Reasons to Get Vaccinated.” It attracted Latvian celebrities who talk about the advantages of vaccination.

This is not the first time a vaccination advertisement has been reported. For example, the Swedish Ministry of Health used in its advertising the image of Hungarian András Arato, known for the meme “Harold hiding the pain”, reports Reuters. The photo was later removed from the website of the Swedish Ministry of Health.
