Large-scale accident in China: more than 200 cars got into a giant “carom”: video

A chain collision on a bridge in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou occurred due to dense fog, one person was killed.

On Wednesday, December 28, in the city of Zhengzhou, which is an important transport hub for Central China, more than 200 cars were caught in the so-called “carom” – a chain collision. It was caused by thick fog.

This is reported by Reuters, citing the Chinese public broadcaster CCTV.

Vehicles traveling in both directions across the bridge, an important crossing point for the Yellow River, were involved in numerous collisions. After that, traffic on the bridge was completely blocked.

Images and recordings posted on social networks show damaged cars and trucks piled on top of each other on the Zhengxin Bridge. According to CCTV footage, one of the cars was crushed among other vehicles.

One person died as a result of the accident.

“It's very scary. It's full of people, I think we can't get off the bridge” โ€” one of the people involved in this massive accident speaks on video footage.

Many casualties are stuck in vehicles and the fire department sent 11 emergency vehicles and 66 firefighters to help.

The Chinese meteorological service reported that in many regions of the country on Wednesday morning, visibility was less than 500 meters, and in some places even 200 meters.

Recall that in northwestern Spain, a bus fell from the bridge to the river on Christmas Eve. According to preliminary data, at least six people died.
