24 years ago, the Russian nuclear submarine “Kursk” sank during exercises. All 118 people on board died.

On the anniversary of the “Kursk tragedy” in the Russian Federation, the President of Ukraine pointed to the symbolism seen in Russian history.

The President spoke about this in his evening address on August 12.

“We see how Russia is really moving during Putin's time: 24 years ago there was the Kursk disaster – the symbolic beginning of his reign; and now we can see what is the end for him. And Kursk too. The catastrophe of his war,” Zelensky said.

He added that this always happens to those who despise people and any rules.

“Russia brought war to others, now it's coming home. Ukraine has always wanted only peace, and we will definitely ensure peace,” he added.

Recall that 24 years ago, on August 12, the nuclear submarine Kursk sank in the Russian Federation. There were 118 people on board. All died. The ship sank during exercises.

Due to a lack of equipment, Russia could not immediately reach the Kursk, refusing help from the West. Just a week after the accident, Norwegian divers discovered the sunken Kursk and the dead crew.
