Kostyuk reached the second round at the Australian Open, Yastremskaya did not finish the match

The third racket of Ukraine, Marta Kostyuk, confidently overcame the starting barrier at the first tournament of the Grand Slam series this year – Australian Open-2022.

In two sets, she defeated the representative of France Dian Parry with a score of 6:1, 7:6 (7:2).

In the first game, the Ukrainian gave her opponent only one game, while Parry lost three of her serves to Kostyuk.

The second draw was more intense. The tennis players exchanged games, and with the score 3:1, the Ukrainian could increase her advantage, but gave the serve to the French. As a result, it came to a tie-break, where Kostyuk confidently put the squeeze on her counterpart.

During the match, both tennis players made two filings for departure. Parry made two double faults, while Kostyuk made five.

On January 19, in the second round, Kostyuk will meet Spaniard Sara Sorribes-Tormo.

In addition to Kostyuk, the first racket of Ukraine, Elina Svitolina, confidently entered the second round.

In two games, she defeated the representative of France, Fiona Ferro. It is interesting that Svitolina's match unfolded according to a similar scenario, like that of Kostyuk. Elina also won the first set, giving up only one rally, and in the second she won in a tie-break.

But the fifth racket of Ukraine, Dayana Yastremska, completed her performances on the Australian courts. The Ukrainian in the opening match in three games lost to the American Madison Brengle.

At the end of the third set, Dayana decided to withdraw, during the game she turned to the doctors for help.
