Two Germans and five people from Moldova became victims of the criminal of Algerian origin.

A 21-year-old man stabbed seven people in a Berlin refugee center on Bitterfelderstrasse in the Marzahn district. The attack took place on the evening of Tuesday, August 13.

This was reported by the RBB24 TV channel.

“A total of seven people were injured, including a 15-year-old teenager, a security guard and a visitor to the center,” the report said.

According to police, the suspect in the attack is an Algerian. The reason for the attack is still unknown.

The publication notes that the police received a report of a massacre at the refugee center at 10:40 p.m. The attacker first argued with a 38-year-old visitor at the entrance to the center, and then hit him. When a 62-year-old security officer approached the men to resolve the conflict, the suspect hit him too, and then left.

But almost immediately, in the courtyard of the center, this man met several refugees and started a fight with them. During the skirmish, the suspect pulled out a knife and wounded five people.

The police reported that the victims received cuts, but there were no life-threatening injuries. The attacker was also injured and needed medical attention.

It is known that the Algerian's victims were five Moldovans, as well as a visitor and a security guard at the refugee center, who were German citizens.

All the victims were taken to hospitals by ambulance and helicopter. The attacker was detained by the police.

The publication notes that recently in Germany there has been an increase in cases of attacks and threats with knives, some of which led to serious injuries and even death of the victim. According to statistics, the overwhelming majority of attackers are young men.

This situation forces the authorities to look for an effective solution to strengthen security. In particular, the Senate of Berlin plans to introduce knife ban zones in the city.

German Federal Interior Minister Nancy Feiser said she wants to strengthen weapons laws and generally ban the carrying of certain types of knives in public places. In particular, switchblades and any other knives with a blade longer than 6 cm may be banned.
