Jürgen Klopp
Liverpool won the Champions League thriller against Atletico. After the match there was a thick air between the two star coaches.
3: 2! Liverpool prevailed in the third round of the Champions League at Atletico Madrid on Tuesday evening. It wasn't a game for the faint of heart. Antoine Griezmann first shone with a double for the home side, then flew off the pitch with red after a kung-fu kick. The Reds took command, winning with a penalty from Mo Salah.
In the meantime the waves kept rising. Atletico coach Diego Simeone is considered particularly emotional. The Griezmann exclusion and the penalty whistle visibly upset the Argentine. So much so that he disappeared into the dressing room right after the final whistle. He forgot the usual handshake with the opposing coach – or left it on purpose.
A bad habit for Jürgen Klopp. The German was grumpy afterwards. Because: he had already held out his hand to Simeone. He only saw red, stomped into the tunnel without looking at Klopp.
Klopp's reaction? He held his thumb up and then started yelling and gesturing wildly into the tunnel.
In the interview that followed, the Liverpool coach was already much calmer and also exercised self-criticism: “I wanted to shake his hand, but he ran away. His behavior was definitely not the best, but neither was my reaction afterwards. We are both emotional. The next time we see each other, we will definitely shake hands again. “
