North Korean leader Kim Jong-un may soon become a Generalissimo. This was reported by the Yonghap agency with reference to data from South Korean intelligence.
It is noted that at the VIII Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea in January 2021, 38-year-old Kim may be awarded the country's highest military rank. No other details are given on this matter.
In October, Kim Jong-un was spotted at a military parade in Pyongyang marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the republic's ruling Labor Party of Korea (WPK). It showed new weapons, including missile and artillery systems. It was monitored by US and South Korean intelligence services. Also among the weapons was demonstrated a 22-meter intercontinental missile “Hwaseong-15”, capable of reaching US territory. Her successful weapon tests took place three years ago.
It is known that the highest leader of North Korea, Marshal Kim Jong-un, did not serve in the army. His grandfather, Kim Il Sung, who ruled North Korea for almost half a century, and his father, Kim Jong Il, held the rank of generalissimo.
