A refugee from the DPRK spoke about how dictator Kim Jong-un selects 25 virgins every year to join your creepy “fun squad”.

According to 30-year-old Yeonmi Park, women are selected based on their appearance and political loyalty. Park says she was twice considered for the dubious honor of serving the leader and his party friends, but she did not go through with her “family status.” She said: “They visit every class and even go out into the school grounds to keep an eye out for any pretty girl. Once they find pretty girls, the first thing they do is check their marital and political status. They weed out the girls, whose family members have fled North Korea or have relatives in South Korea or other countries.

Kim Jong Il developed the idea for this “pleasure squad” in the 1970s, Park explained. She continued, “He thought, 'If I choose beautiful girls and send them to where my father Kim Il Sung stayed, he might be very pleased. So he selected beautiful women and placed them in the resorts that Kim Il Sung visited. Kim Il Sung was so touched that his son thought of his pleasure, and that is why he appointed Kim Jong Il as his heir.”

In desperate conditions in North Korea, parents agree to have their daughters join the “pleasure squad,” seeing it as a way to ensure they don’t suffer from hunger. When party members reach twenty years of age, they are considered past their prime and are usually married off to one of the chief's guards.
