The head of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, announced that the country's five-year economic development plan had failed on almost all fronts. The North Korean leader said this during the congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, Reuters reports.
Kim Jong-un noted that within the framework of the plan, which was to be fully implemented in 2020, goals in almost all sectors have not been achieved. He stressed that the DPRK needs to strengthen its economy based on its own forces. It is noted that the next five-year economic development plan will be adopted at the Congress of the Labor Party, which has begun in North Korea.
Earlier it was reported that Kim Jong-un, for the first time in 10 years, refused a New Year's televised address and sent the citizens of the country a New Year card with congratulations. He used to do this in 2011.
