The mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, said that the capital of Ukraine had entered a phase of defense against the backdrop of the offensive of Russian troops.
He made such a statement at an urgent briefing.
The city has entered the defense phase. Now in some areas of the capital there are shots and explosions that you hear. The Ukrainian military is destroying Russian sabotage groups,” Klitschko stressed.
According to him, some enemy sabotage groups have already entered the city.
“The enemy wants to bring the capital to its knees and destroy us. Everyone who can defend the city should join and help our soldiers,” Klitschko urged.
The mayor of the capital recalled that today Russian troops attacked the city after 04.00 am, a series of rocket attacks on residential areas took place. As a result of hitting rocket fragments, a residential building was damaged, four people were injured.
– Also, due to the collision of Russian armored vehicles with a private car in Obolon, a civilian, an elderly man, was injured. He is in intensive care in an emergency hospital in a serious condition, Klitschko added.
In this regard, he appealed to the residents of the Obolonsky district of the capital, where enemy saboteurs penetrated today, and urged them not to take to the streets, since it is now dangerous. Residents of Obolon are advised to stay at home or in shelter.
Klitschko stressed that the Ukrainian army is now holding the defense around Kiev.
– The situation is difficult. But we believe in our Armed Forces, support them and help everyone,” Klitschko said.
He urged to report suspicious objects and marks of the enemy in the capital.
