The PPK-20 submachine gun for pilots was developed as part of the Vityaz-MO R&D work on the basis of the Vityaz-SN serially produced submachine gun. The caliber of the new pistol is 9 mm, the maximum range of a direct shot at a growth target is 360 m.With 7N21 cartridges, a shot from it can penetrate a bulletproof vest of protection class 3A. Withstands rate of fire up to 800 rounds per minute.
The pistol is going to be added to the emergency stock of the flight personnel of the Russian Aerospace Forces, it can be placed in the pilot's ejection seat. PPK-20 has already passed state tests, the final decision on adoption is expected.
Despite the fact that the pistol was originally created for pilots, it can be effective as a weapon for ground troops and urban special forces. An additional advantage of the development is its small dimensions, according to Kalashnikov. The length of the PPK-20 with the stock folded is 41 cm. “[The submachine gun] is of interest as an effective weapon for special purpose units performing tasks in crowded conditions, in urban areas, inside planning or in transport,” the concern noted …
The company also introduced the AKV-521 civilian carbine for the first time, an innovation based on the company's classic and most famous model, the Kalashnikov assault rifle (AK). The AKV-521 comes with two interchangeable barrels 415 and 341 mm, which allows you to use three types of cartridges: 5.45×39, 7.62×39 and 223REM. Thanks to this, the development has a high potential for export – the weapon can be adapted to the needs of the customer right at the shipping warehouse, and not in the production workshop, the developer notes.
“The [new] carbine will be of interest to those who, for use in various conditions, need a universal shooting complex with the ability to use three calibers, a wide range of ammunition, as well as various optical day and night / thermal imaging systems,” said Valentin, director of the Kalashnikov design center Vlasenko.
The carbine has already passed all in-plant tests, preparations are underway for its serial production.
The Army-2021 Forum will be held from 22 to 28 August.
Earlier, Kalashnikov presented the latest RPL-20 light machine gun. The capacity of its cartridge box is 100 cartridges of 5.45 caliber. The machine gun is equipped with an adjustable polymer stock and a Picatinny rail mounting system, which allows you to install various types of optical and collimator sights on it.
