The Kalashnikov concern is developing a marine version of the KUB kamikaze drones. The company also unveiled the new S-8L guided missile, which can be used with drones, and the prototype PPK-20 submachine gun.
Nikita Khamitov, head of special projects at ZALA Aero (part of Kalashnikov), announced the development of kamikaze drones for sea-based deployment. On the sidelines of the Army forum in Kubinka near Moscow, he said that work was underway on a “completely new modification” of the KUB complex. “The system installed on high-speed transport and landing ships and special-purpose boats significantly increases their combat capabilities,” said Mr. Khamitov (quoted by RIA Novosti).
Kalashnikov also presented a new S-8L guided missile that can be used in conjunction with UAVs. A helicopter UAV manufactured by NPP Strela with three suspended S-8L missiles was shown at the demo center of the concern at the forum. Andrey Semyonov, deputy general director of the company, said that with the help of this missile it would be possible to destroy single and group mobile and stationary targets. The missile has a semi-active laser homing head, the range of its use is up to 6 km.
In addition, the concern for the first time presented the PPK-20 submachine gun for the pilots of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Denis Fesenko, deputy general director of the concern for special projects, said that PPK-20 may be of interest to special forces units. “PPK-20 has a telescopic butt for firing from the left and right shoulders, a calimator sight, a Picatinny rail, an infrared beam,” he said at the presentation.
