An experiment was conducted in Russia with an American bulletproof vest with “ballistic gel” and AK-12 bullets. The Kalashnikov assault rifle was able to penetrate the bulletproof vest.
The experiment was organized by the Zvezda TV channel. During the tests, the AK-12 used bullets of different calibers. They shot at the “ballistic gel” used in American bulletproof vests. Also, a splinterproof element from a vest was set in front of the goal. The protection class was 3A – the most common in the USA.
As a result, a 7.62 caliber bullet successfully penetrated such protection. In addition, the force of the shot knocked out the previous bullet.
The impact of the bullet on the “ballistic gel” blocks was recorded on a high-speed camera. It looks impressive. The blocks seem to become liquid as the bullet passes. It glides on the gel like butter.
