In the first round, the Brazilian was right brought. After a series of powerful punches, Peña transferred the fight to canvas, but even there Nunez did not allow her opponent to do anything.
In the second round, the American was able to repulse the eminent Brazilian. Peña, 32, unexpectedly moved Nunez to the ground and then gave him a choke hold. Amanda could not be freed and suffered a sensational defeat.
Thus, Julianne Peña became the new UFC lightweight champion – this is the largest upset since 2015, when Rhonda Rosie unexpectedly lost to Golly Hill.
33-year-old Amanda Nunez has not lost in the UFC since 2015.
