British Prime Minister Boris Johnson personally decided to evacuate animals and British employees instead of evacuating Afghans who collaborated with coalition forces in the war against the Taliban (the Taliban is a terrorist organization banned in Russia). The opposition accused him of another lie after an internal investigation by the Foreign Ministry, the British newspaper Independent reports.
Earlier, Johnson denied the fact that it was he who gave the order to change the priorities of air evacuation from Afghanistan. However, as a result of an internal investigation, it was found that the Prime Minister’s secretary, Trudy Harrison, under the pretext of personal permission from her boss, organized cooperation between the departments and the charter company that carried out the evacuation.
“He had no right to give priority to the removal of animals, while the Afghan [allies] who worked in our armed forces remained there,” said John Healy, a member of the British parliament from the Labour Party.
He said that the current prime minister is not able to make serious decisions in foreign and domestic policy, and initiated a trial of the reasons for the cancellation of the decision of the British Defense Minister.
“People fled the country in terror when the Taliban captured Kabul, and British troops put their lives at risk. The Prime Minister has again prioritized the wrong things,” the politician added.
On January 26, Boris Johnson refused to resign because of the scandal surrounding the parties he allegedly hosted at the Downing Street residence during lockdown. He promised that he would resign if he was found guilty.
In August 2021, the British Ministry of Defense announced that the government had organized a charter flight to evacuate animals from Afghanistan. Due to changes in the priority of air flights in Afghanistan, a large number of Afghans remained who helped the coalition forces during the military operation.
