Russian President Vladimir Putin may still start a dialogue with the West to avoid dire consequences for his country. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson made such an appeal to the Russian leader, TASS reports.

According to him, Russia allegedly plans “at least something that can happen in the next 48 hours.” “I think it is very important that we maintain a dialogue, but we cannot trade the sovereign rights of Ukrainians who want NATO membership,” the politician said.

In addition, Johnson announced his plans to discuss the situation in Ukraine with US President Joe Biden and a number of European leaders in the near future.

Earlier, the British Prime Minister said that European countries should be ready to abandon the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline due to a possible Russian attack on Ukraine. He called the current situation around Ukraine very dangerous and announced the need to introduce very serious economic restrictions against Moscow.
