European countries should be ready to abandon the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on the states to do this, Sky News reports.

“We need to find alternative sources of energy, and we must be ready to impose very, very serious economic restrictions on Russia,” the politician stressed. He called the current situation around Ukraine very dangerous and noted that the world is on the brink of an abyss.

Earlier it became known about Johnson's plans to discuss with the leaders of the European Union (EU) ways to prevent a war in Ukraine and issues of providing defense assistance to Kiev. The office of the British Prime Minister said that he will make every effort and use the possibilities of diplomacy to de-escalate.
