British Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned that if Russian President Vladimir Putin succeeds in his invasion of Ukraine, a new era of intimidation will begin” ;, stretching from the Baltic to the Black Seas.
The British PM added that the world is at a “turning point”.
– The end of freedom in Ukraine will mean the end of any hope for freedom in Georgia, and then in Moldova. This will mark the beginning of a new era of intimidation throughout Eastern Europe from the Baltic to the Black Sea. If Putin succeeds in crushing Ukraine, it will give the green light to autocrats everywhere in the Middle East, in the Far East. This is a turning point for the world. This is the moment of choice. It's a choice between freedom and oppression,” Johnson said.
He warned other leaders against taking a “realpolitik” towards Putin.
– I know there are people in the world who say it's better to put up with tyranny. I think they are deeply mistaken,” Boris Johnson stressed.
He added that trying to normalize relations with Putin after everything that happened, as the West did in 2014 after the annexation of Crimea, would mean make the exact same mistake again.
