British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called the capture of the Capitol in Washington by the supporters of the current US President Donald Trump “shameful scenes.” He wrote about this on his Twitter account.
“The United States defends democracy around the world, and a peaceful and orderly transfer of power is now vital,” the politician wrote.
Protesters broke into the Capitol Building and surrounded the Senate Hall on January 6. The Senate and House of Representatives have suspended the meeting, which was planned to approve the results of the electoral college vote. According to these results, Democrat Joe Biden won the presidential election. Trump himself has called on supporters to act peacefully and support the police. The Capitol Building in Washington was later cleared of protesters.
