Jersey trouble at LASK! The fans of Linz criticize the pink away addresses, which the club is said to have been forced to by a sponsor.
The Black and White initiative criticizes the fact that the third alternative dress was used in the 2-0 win in Helsinki without any need. At the presentation of the Leiberl, the fans were apparently promised that the pink underwear would only be used when it was not possible otherwise.
In Helsinki, LASK still wore the eye-catching jersey, even though black and white would have fit according to UEFA rules.
LASK managing director Andreas Protil explains: “The pink dress in Helsinki was a requirement of BWT. In a phase where money has to be raised for the stadium, we cannot allow ourselves to upset an important sponsor.”
The group not only acts as a sponsor at LASK, but also as a supplier at international games, so the club's hands are tied. The fans are annoyed, in a statement it says: “As a fan of a club in today's commercialized football business, one constantly compromises. At least the core elements of the club's identity – such as the dress color – should remain untouched.”
