What is known about Biden's new speaker
According to the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre is now Chief Deputy Press Secretary and Deputy Assistant to the President. Karin is a longtime adviser to President Biden, having served in senior communications and political positions in the Biden administration, the Biden campaign, and Biden's vice president in the Obama administration.
Prior to campaigning, she served as Director of Communications for MoveOn.org and Political Analyst for NBC and MSNBC. Jean-Pierre served as Regional Political Director of the White House Office of Political Affairs during the Obama-Biden Administration and was Deputy Director during President Obama's 2012 presidential campaign. She was Southeast Regional Political Director for President Obama's 2008 Campaign, Deputy Campaign Manager for Martin O'Melli for President, Campaign Manager for the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Initiative, and Deputy Chief of Staff and Director on Legislative and Budgetary Affairs for two members of the New York Council.
She previously worked at the Center for Community and Integrity, encouraging large companies to change their business practices and is a published author. Jean-Pierre was born in Martinique and grew up in New York. She graduated from Columbia University.
