Moscow. June 7. INTERFAX.RU – The founder of Amazon and the aerospace company Blue Origin Jeff Bezos will go into space with his brother Mark Bezos.
“Since the age of five, I dreamed of traveling into space. On July 20, I will take this journey with my brother. Greatest adventure with my best friend,” Bezos wrote on Instagram.
The flight will take place on the New Shepard spacecraft created by Blue Origin. It is a single-stage rocket for short suborbital tourist flights outside the Earth's atmosphere. The passenger compartment has seats for six people and four portholes to observe the Earth's surface. Previously, Blue Origin tested the rocket more than a dozen times, but there were no people in the capsule then.
On July 20, a rocket with people in the cockpit will take off several tens of kilometers. After that, the device with space tourists will be disconnected and for some time it will cross the conditional boundary of space at an altitude of 100 km. Passengers will be in zero gravity for some time. The capsule will then begin to descend and descend with the aid of parachutes. In the meantime, the detached stage will have to make a vertical landing.
On May 5, Blue Origin announced that it would launch the first human-powered New Shepard rocket on July 20. Moreover, as reported, one passenger seat will be sold at an auction.
CNBC reports on June 7 that the winner of the online auction will also fly into space aboard the New Shepard. On May 19, online bids became visible, which will end on June 10. At the moment, the highest bid for the right to receive a ticket is $ 2.8 million. The winner will be determined on June 12.
