Analysts had expected an average decrease of 1.5 percent.
Consumer prices (CPI) in the Japanese metropolis Tokyo fell in January. They fell 0.4 percent within a year, according to government data on Friday. Analysts had expected a decline of 0.6 percent. The Japanese central bank is actually aiming for an inflation rate of around two percent.
