Police in the Japanese city of Beppu in Oita Prefecture detained 56-year-old Tetsuo Uratu, who is accused of serial theft of lingerie – 730 items of clothing were found in his home. According to Insider, the man was approached after a complaint by one of the students who found six sets of underwear missing.

After the girl's statement, the police searched Tetsuo's house and found a whole warehouse of clothes there. The man admitted that he had been stealing linen from nearby laundries for years.

“We have not confiscated this amount of underwear in years,” said a spokesman for the Beppu City Police Department.

However, this is not the first and not the largest case of theft of lingerie in Japan. In 2019, police in Oita Prefecture announced the capture of a certain Toru Adachi, who had 1,100 pieces of women's underwear at home.

Also in April of this year, police arrested a 30-year-old electrician who was found in his home with more than 400 items of underwear that belonged to teenage girls.
