Japanese Foreign Ministry announces evacuation of embassy staff in Ukraine

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan decided to reduce the number of employees of the embassy in Ukraine due to the allegedly imminent Russian invasion of the country and announced the evacuation of diplomats. NHK reports.

The Foreign Ministry warned that the work of the diplomatic mission would be limited, and called on the remaining Japanese citizens to leave Ukrainian territory as soon as possible.

“The situation is likely to deteriorate rapidly, and if you remain in Ukraine, please evacuate immediately in the safest way,” said Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.

Earlier it became known that 35 countries of the world recommended their citizens to leave Ukraine. These included Australia, Great Britain, Latvia, Israel, Canada, Greece, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, USA, Finland, Montenegro, Estonia, South Korea, Japan, as well as Belgium, Germany and Lithuania, Kuwait, Iraq, Italy, Spain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Slovenia, Jordan, Palestine, Morocco, Luxembourg, Bahamas, North Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Bahrain and Cyprus.
