Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced the imposition of sanctions against a number of Russian officials and Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is reported on Sunday, February 27, RIA Novosti.

Kishida noted that all assets of individual members of the Russian government in Japan will soon be frozen if they are discovered. “It becomes impossible to maintain relations with Russia. Japan intends to take tougher sanctions in cooperation with the G7 countries and the international community,” he added.

The Prime Minister of Japan stressed that the country would support the disconnection of some Russian banks from the SWIFT international interbank system. “Western partners have requested our participation in the statement, and Japan intends to join the initiative,” he said.

On February 25, it became known that Japan imposed a visa ban on certain Russian citizens and freezes the assets of individuals and organizations. In addition, the country has imposed sanctions on the export to Russia of goods that can be used for military purposes.
