Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga confirmed that North Korea launched two ballistic missiles. His words are reported by TASS.
The shells fell outside the Japanese Exclusive Economic Zone, Suga said. He stressed that the DPRK conducted two launches of such missiles for the first time since March 29 last year. According to the prime minister, they violate the UN Security Council resolutions and also threaten the peace and security of the region.
A senior US administration official also confirmed the launch of two North Korean ballistic missiles to CNN.
According to the Kyodo news agency, the Japanese government has convened the National Security Council because of the North Korean missile launches, RIA Novosti reports.
