According to the publication, an assistance package, including the Samp-T air defense system and Storm Shadow missiles, will be provided before the end of June.
Italy will transfer the ninth package of military aid to Ukraine, including Storm Shadow long-range missiles.
The Italian publication Fatto Quotidiano writes about this, citing its own sources.
According to the publication, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto will present the ninth to parliament before the end of the month package of military assistance to Ukraine. This package will include not only the Samp-T air defense system, but also a batch of Storm Shadow long-range missiles. These missiles will be able to hit targets at a distance of up to 300 km, that is, potentially strike deep into Russian territory.
Storm Shadow is expected to be installed on Ukrainian Su-24 fighters.
The publication's sources note that these missiles were one of the requests of the Ukrainian government, which considers them important for a likely counter-offensive.
The Italian Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on this information.
According to unofficial data, Italy received 200 Storm Shadow missiles in 1999. In 2023, Rome joined the Franco-British program to replace them with new generation missiles.
In April of this year, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps, in an interview with The Times, said that Italy, along with France and the UK, had already sent long-range missiles to Ukraine. Italian authorities have neither confirmed nor denied this statement.
Recall that Italy offered new military assistance to Ukraine right at the peace summit.
