The leadership of the public Association of Italian Friends of Russia invited Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi to become a mediator in negotiations to normalize relations between Russia, the EU and NATO. This became known from an appeal from the president of the association, Lorenzo Valloreya, sent to Draghi. The letter came to the disposal of RIA Novosti.
Valloreya believes that the head of the Italian government should not miss such an opportunity, since he maintains good relations with official Moscow. This, among other things, was noted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who spoke about the stability of relations with Italy, the Association recalled.
In addition, the letter pointed to the danger of a “new cold war”. “In order for its harmful consequences to manifest itself, it is enough intentions, words, lack of agreement, it is enough to pretend that you do not in the least understand the arguments of others,” Valloreya concluded.
Negotiations between Russia and NATO are to take place in January, presumably on the 10th. They will discuss the draft agreements of the Russian Federation with NATO and the United States on security guarantees proposed by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
