Italian mafia ordered ambulances to stop using siren

by alex

The Italian mafia in Naples has ordered ambulance crews to stop using sirens and flashing lights. This is reported by The Times.

Local mafia clans do not like ambulances to scare off drug dealers and their clients, who mistake their sirens for a police raid.

Mafiosi have repeatedly threatened ambulance drivers with reprisals if they continue to use a special signal. The latter have asked the police for protection, the newspaper said.

Earlier it was reported that Italian mafia gangs were engaged in charity work and began to help the poor and deliver food amid the coronavirus pandemic. In different cities of the country, especially in the poor southern regions, the mafia delivers essential goods to people. People who have lost their jobs take jobs for “gray wages” to make ends meet. Since this also affects the income of mafia groups, they prefer to help local residents.
