It will become more difficult for Russians to get a visa to Germany: what has changed

To travel to Germany, citizens of the Russian Federation must provide an extract from a bank operating in the EU and convincing evidence of their intention to return to Russia.

The requirements for obtaining Schengen visas have been made more difficult for Russians wishing to leave for Germany.

An updated list of required documents has been published on the website of the only visa center VisaMetric accredited at the German Embassy in Russia.

As proof of the availability of financial resources for the duration of their stay in the territory of the Schengen Agreement, citizens of the Russian Federation must provide an extract from a bank operating in the EU.

“Only current statements issued by in the name of the applicant, from a bank operating in the member countries of the European Union,” the message says.

Also, Russian citizens need to have proof of employment, training, or regular sources of income.

The visa center also stressed that they can proof of intention to return to the Russian Federation will be required, including ownership of real estate in the aggressor country, one or more vehicles, the presence of close relatives.

Recall that earlier the European Commission provided updated recommendations for member states on issuing visas and border control for Russian citizens at the external borders of the EU.
