Pavel Durov restored the chronology of events on the day of the tragedy.
On May 11, a 19-year-old former student came to a gymnasium, which he graduated from several years ago and shot seven children and two adults there. Shortly before the tragedy, he announced his intentions in the Telegram messenger. After the release of this information, many believed that the tragedy could have been prevented if there had been a prompt reaction to the shooter's message. However, the creator of Telegram, Pavel Durov, denied this. He restored the chronology of events according to the actions of the shooter in the messenger. According to the businessman, in this case it would have been impossible to have time to fix something.
According to Durov, the gunman announced his plans just 20 minutes before the start of the first shots. It was then that he created his own channel in Telegram and was the only participant there. He made the channel public 15 minutes before the attack.
Telegram moderators acted quickly: within an hour after receiving the first complaints, they blocked the channel for incitement to violence. However, complaints and subscribers appeared on the channel only after the killer was detained by the police. Even if law enforcement officers somehow monitored all Telegram channels in real time, they would hardly have had time to prevent the tragedy in such a short time: the criminal deliberately did not disclose his plans in advance and did not give any specifics.

Pavel noted that after the tragedy, they are trying to find the culprit among third parties: “from the creators of computer games to school principals.”
“However, we must admit that it is impossible to completely protect society from the actions of mentally unstable people. Statistically, one in a million people may turn out to be a sociopath, ready for unmotivated aggression , ”Durov said.
The entrepreneur stressed that such situations should not “serve as a pretext for organizing a witch hunt or turning society into a concentration camp .”
Now the trial of the shooter is underway in Kazan. A preventive measure will be chosen for him. Earlier it became known that he has a brain disease.
