The captain of the Ukrainian men's biathlon team Dmitry Pidruchny made a worthy gesture during the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The coach of the team Juraj Sanitra spoke about the act of the Ukrainian biathlete in a comment to Suspіlna Sport.

During the pursuit, Pidruchny gave one of his sticks to his opponent, after which he covered several hundred meters with only one.

This happened due to the fact that the Ukrainian accidentally broke the opponent's stick – the German Johannes Kühn. Then the Ukrainian decided to give him his in the middle of the race.

– Dmitry Podruchny fought with the German on the circle. I really liked the reaction of Dmitry, who broke Kün's stick, but without a second thought gave him his own. Dmitry then ran about 200-300 meters with one stick.

I went to the German team to apologize but they said it was a very good fair play gesture. They respect Dmitry Pidruchny very much,” Sanitra said.

In this race, the Ukrainian finished in 13th place, and Kyun was one position higher. For the 30-year-old Podruchny, this is the third Olympic Games in his career.

At the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, he updated the record, taking 13th position also in the sprint.

Norway continues to lead the 2022 Olympic medal standings with 13 gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals.

Germany is in second place, and the United States closes the top three. Ukraine ranks 23rd in the ranking thanks to Alexander Abramenko's silver in ski acrobatics.
