There are about a million Ukrainian men of conscription age abroad.
There are currently about 300 thousand men of mobilization age living in Poland.
This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga at the XX meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) in Kyiv.
He said that Ukraine is in close dialogue with Poland, in particular, in the project of training a military unit on Polish territory, which is planned to be formed from Ukrainian volunteers living abroad.
“This project, it seems to me, will be very important from the point of view, in particular, of strengthening our defense capability. According to estimates by the Ukrainian side, today about three hundred thousand male citizens of mobilization age live in Poland. In total, there are about a million abroad. And this is also about justice”, – noted Sybiga.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added that the duty to defend their homeland concerns all citizens – regardless of their place of residence.
