IT specialist Pavel Myasoedov gave Russians advice on how to choose a secure messenger if they want to preserve their privacy.
“The most popular applications support some kind of information encryption, but even if the messages themselves are not visible to third parties, the creator of the program can still get acquainted with the metadata. Metadata includes information about the number and type of device from which you are texting, your The IP address on the network and even the phone number must be taken into account, “Myasoedov explained in an interview with the Prime Economic Information Agency.
Myasoedov advises choosing messengers that use peer-to-peer technology, in which communication takes place directly between the devices of the interlocutors, bypassing intermediate servers. The technology is not perfect, among its shortcomings are the inability to enter the chat from another device and limited functionality.
The expert advised to choose compromise options. As such, he refers to Telegram, which pays attention to the confidentiality of correspondence, without neglecting functionality. Myasoedov also noted the Signal messenger.
Earlier on kp.ru it was reported that a special messenger for officials is being tested in Moscow, suggesting a unique level of security and confidentiality.
