It is known that Ukraine can use weapons transferred from Sweden.
Sweden will be able to transfer Gripen fighters to the Ukrainian armed forces only after Ukraine receives the F-16.
This was stated by Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström before the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Prague, Ukrinform reports.
“We will not supply the Swedish Gripen, because the message from the F-16 coalition is that integrating two types of aircraft at the same time will be difficult. Therefore, perhaps the Grippen will be provided after the F-16, and the coalition will do its job “, the minister emphasized.
According to him, the Swedish government offered Kyiv an alternative: to provide two detection and surveillance aircraft. Billström says it is “an important addition to the F-16 coalition because it gives Ukraine capabilities it lacks.”
The diplomat also said that Ukraine can use the weapons transferred by Sweden “without restrictions” in compliance with international humanitarian law.
Recall that the other day it became known that Sweden stopped the plan to transfer Gripen aircraft to Ukraine. The reason is that Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway they are already preparing to transfer F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
Subsequently, the Swedish government announced that Stockholm is providing Ukraine with ASC 890 AWACS aircraft. The exact number of aircraft is not stated, but it follows from the text that it is about several systems.
