Another American could have disappeared in Ukraine – the State Department is studying the information
The State Department said it was investigating information about the possible missing in Ukraine of a third US citizen who could have participated in the fight against Russian occupiers.
About this State Department spokesman Ned Price said, Ukrinform writes.
“There were reports of another American whose whereabouts are still unknown,” said a representative of the US Department of State.
According to him, there is information that he was in Ukraine. The State Department is investigating these reports, but cannot yet share the details of the case.
This may be the third American reported missing in Ukraine. The US government is in contact with the families of the missing American citizens, as well as with the Ukrainian side and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
So far, there is no information that could confirm that these persons were captured. There are no possible grounds to believe that the Americans could have been captured by the Russians.
But the United States is ready to communicate with the Russian side without hesitation if such grounds appear.
The representative of the State Department stressed that all the captured combatants actions in Ukraine should be considered prisoners of war and have all the rights in accordance with the Geneva Convention, regardless of citizenship.
